Relevant Criminal record for discrimination on employment.

I wonder if a $500 fine for Damage 8 years ago is a good enough reason to be considered not suitable for employment. The company's application form states that they have a "no tolerance policy and a clean safe and federal level police clearance has to be provided at the applicants expense".
