John had nearly 20 years' experience in national and Qld firms before establishing Cockburn Legal. As a partner of Gilshenan and Luton he was responsible for establishing its administrative law and industrial and anti-discrimination practices.
John's focus for some years now has been upon estate planning issues including Trust wills and effective legal structuring for business assets. He is experienced across the spectrum of legal concerns facing aging Australians.
John is also a member of STEP - the international peak body for Trust and Will practitioners – The Society of Trust and Estates Practitioners. He has undertaken specialist education in Self Managed Superannuation Funds through the University of Adelaide.
He is often consulted to assist business with difficult workplace investigations and employment disputes.
John has worked extensively across the “not for profit” sector including both state , national and international sporting bodies as well as Australian charities and clubs across their corporate governance responsibilities.
