Michael Smith

I am a Patent and Trade Marks Attorney located in Melbourne. I have science and law degrees and post-graduate qualifications in physics (nanotechnology and optics) and intellectual property law. In addition, I have worked as a lawyer since 2008, and focused on intellectual property since 2010.

I enjoy all aspects of IP practice including: infringement and invalidity advice, prosecution, oppositions and licensing matters. My experience in patents includes mechanical and electrical engineering, security technology, plastics engineering, materials technology, audio processing software and computer implemented methods. I act as a consultant lawyer in a broad range of IP matters with particular focus on patent litigation before the Federal Court. My number one priority is ensuring clients choose the right legal and commercial strategy to achieve their objectives.
