Sue specialises in tax controversy in relation to all federal & state taxes. She provides strategic advice on risks arising from contentious issues; ATO & State Revenue Office reviews & audits; alternative dispute resolution & tax litigation. She is an accredited mediator experienced in tax mediations.
Sue has acted as instructing solicitor in a range of matters in the High Court, Federal Court, Supreme Court and AAT in relation to income tax, PRRT, employment taxes, stamp duty, GST and land tax. Her more recent reported litigation experience includes: Watsford v Commissioner of Tax (2013); PTTEP v Commissioner of Tax (2014); Cable & Wireless Australia & Pacific Holding BV v Commissioner of Tax (2015); Barrick Gold Corporation v Commissioner of State Revenue WA (2015); and Uber v Commissioner of Tax (2016).
Sue was the 2008 President of the Tax Institute.
Sue has participated in various industry and government committees, consults with Treasury and the ATO on taxation issues, is a frequent speaker at industry events and lectures in the LLM program as a senior fellow of the University of Melbourne. She is a member of the Board of Tax Advisory Panel.
